Steritech's Qld plant, based in Narangba, has recently commissioned a new 42 pallet freezer.
"The main benefit of the freezer is to reduce the demurrage costs for customers who deliver product in refrigerated containers, ensuring certain commoditites stay frozen before, during and after Irradiation processing, whilst enhacning our processing capabilities" said Glenn Robertson, Steritech's Queensland Sales Executive.
The freezer can reach up to -28 degrees centigrade.
It is currently being utilised to ensure commodities such as fishing bait, bloodworms and serum stay frozen.
Refrigerated containers can be dropped at Steritech, Narangba. The container will be connected to power and unpacked within 48 hours. The product will be moved to the 42 pallet freezer and stored until it is ready for irradiation processing. The refrigerated container can be picked up as soon it has been unpacked. Once processing is complete the goods are placed back in the freezer until the customer picks the goods up.
