Document & Archive Protection
Steritech recently undertook an exercise to contact as many local councils as possible to offer their Gamma Irradiation service for disinfestation, decontamination and sterilisation of historical archives.

The response was good, with many councils interested in the technology, especially due to the fact that no chemicals are used and there are no residues

The Gamma treatment is able to kill any insect infestation like bookworm or silverfish. The process can also stop mould and bacteria growth before any damage occurs.

The benefit about using this method is that there are no special requirements for packaging the goods like other methods which require air tight, waterproof plastic bags. Goods can be delivered to Steritech in normal archive boxes, for example.

The treatment of documents & archives is not just for councils. Customers bring items like old maps, paintings, books and furniture, to name but a few. If you are concerned about any form of contamination in your goods, give Steritech a call and see if we can solve your problem.
