Medical
Irradiation for the sterilisation of medical products has been successfully used for more than 40 years.

Approximately 60% of all single use medical devices worldwide are sterilised by irradiation, and the remaining 40% by ethylene oxide processing (EtO).

Over time, experience and expertise with using gamma irradiation in the healthcare and medical equipment industries have improved significantly. This gives customers added confidence.

EtO is used as a gas for sterilising and decontaminating. It sterilises via its action as a powerful alkylating agent. Because of the alkylation, cell reproduction is prevented and cell death is ensured.

The main advantages of using gamma irradiation and EtO are:
       • High reliability. No area or part of the product can escape from gamma rays.
       • Total penetration - includes multi package goods and sealed cavities.
       • Covers a broad range of medical products.
       • Safe and environmentally friendly.

In essence, Steritech is playing a key role in improving health standards in hospitals and clinics, and so protecting patient recovery.
