Steritech’s sterilisation and decontamination processes do not just make products safer for humans, but they also help protect animals.  Using our services Steritech treats a range of products used for domestic pets (including veterinary products and pet food supplies) and animal feed used in the agriculture sector.  Both local manufacturers and importers utilise Steritech's services.

In the agriculture sector, the risk of microbiological contamination in cereals and grains is high and contaminated feed is potentially very damaging for animal health.  Steritech’s treatments can be used to eliminate or control pests and the microbiological contamination of cereals and other grains.  Irradiation is extremely effective in devitalisation of seeds and is used, for example,  as a critical step in the manufacture of mouse bait.  Steritech's Gamma Irradiation service is consistently used to eliminate American and European Foulbrood in bee equipment.

Irradiation and heat treatment can also be used to devitalise seeds to ensure unwanted seeds do not germinate in the field.  This is particularly useful in the production pest controls, such as in-field mouse bait, and helps suppliers meet biosecurity and quarantine requirements when trading products between states in Australia or exporting overseas.
